Essential Functions of this Job
Develops relationships between the corporate community and the district's CTE programs and Career Academies and Multiple Pathways Education to establish a workforce that is prepared to effectively meet the needs of Polk County businesses.
- Identifies and leverages connections within the local business community to align to the industry needs and enhance collaboration within district CTE programs and Career Academies and the Multiple Pathways Education Department.
- Analyze, disaggregate, and communicate school and district CTE and Career Academy data for use in academy certification and school/district strategic improvement plans.
- Facilitate alignment to NCAC National Standards of Practice for academies seeking national certification.
- Maintain Polk County Career Academies status as a national model for career academy implementation:
- Serve as the point of contact for inquiries involving implementation of the National Standards of Practice within a career academy/small learning community
- Coordinate and facilitate campus and academy tours (e.g. Business partner tours, Insight/Onsite, custom tours)
- Promote and represent Polk County Public Schools Career Academies at national conferences and networking events
- Coordinates and implements the district's Career Academy Advisory Board and Industry Council meetings.
- Collaborates with Program TRSTs and Academy Coaches to Enlists support from the business community to implement future Career Academy Industry Councils.
- Maintains and builds maintains new business relationships within the Career and Technical Education Programs and Career Academies.
- Maintain active community organization participation (e.g. Chambers of Commerce, Kiwanis, Rotary, etc.) by attending regular meetings and events, and serving on advisory boards as requested Generates, edits, and publishes content on all department social media channels to build meaningful connections and encourage community members to act and become involved with Multiple Pathway schools CTE programs and Career Academies.
- Develops department marketing plans and ensures accurate brand representation. Coordinates Career Academy team members to ensure equitable support for academies seeking certification.
Oversees academy structure at all stages of development and implementation: initial program formation, alignment to economic/occupational demand, growth to a small learning community/academy, accreditation, and continuous improvement Areas of support may include but are not limited to:
- Cohort development
- Action Plan development
- Student data tracking
- Outline intake procedures
- Retention support
Coordinates district-wide internship, pre-apprenticeship, and teacher externship programs including securing business partner commitments, creating preparation programs for potential interns/externs, and coordinating with school personnel to identify appropriate intern/extern placements. Selects, recruits, and supervises Workforce Education office interns.
