Position Title
Custom Job Purpose
This position exists to identify and recruit students to participate in the district's college admissions initiatives. College Navigators will assist targeted students with goal setting and achievement, identification of match schools, and supporting academic and extracurricular advisement.
Essential Functions of this Job
Develop and implement a strategic vision for recruiting student participants including a referral process from educators and community-based organizations. Support students with goal setting related to college admissions including identification of match schools. Advise and support students with academic and extracurricular opportunities.  Utilize an intimate knowledge of schools, degree programs, and admissions practices. Develop and maintain relationships with post-secondary admissions staff and organizations that support and provide college access and success services including, but not limited to, QuestBridge, National College Attainment Network, and The College Match Program. Develop and implement summer programs for participating students to include college admissions workshops, application completion, essay development, interview workshops, FAFSA work sessions and advisement, college tours, etc.  Collaborate with school and district-based team members to develop and deliver learning sessions on college application resources and opportunities for students, educators, and families.Â
Provide leadership in the design, delivery, evaluation, and improvement of comprehensive college advisements programs in a systematic manner to improve the academics, attendance, career awareness, and behavior of all students. Plan and execute outreach initiatives with community organizations and increase community involvement and support for college admissions initiatives. Conduct family support initiatives to include training, community connection assistance, and various other services to ensure family involvement and support.  Create and implement financial literacy education designed to assist families with interpreting financial award offers and expected family contribution in relation to individual contexts.  Gather, review and analyze data reports to improve college acceptance and enrollment. Support school counselors with appropriate student scheduling and advising, including extracurricular opportunities.  Review program policies, procedures, and operations to determine adequacy of the school counseling program in meeting school district objectives related to college planning and admissions. Attend local, state and national college admissions conferences to keep abreast of legislative and national changes and convey new developments in the field to other school and district-based team members. Advocate for programs and services that lead to student success and achievement with school staff members, parents, district- and state-level staff, school board members and the community. Collaborate with school staff members, parents, district-and state-level staff, school board members, and the community to remove barriers and implement resources for student success related to post-secondary admissions and enrollment.

Qualifications
Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Education, or certification in guidance and counseling, or at least 3 year's experience as a college admissions counselor or comparative experience related to college consulting and advising. Experience in related leadership or supervision preferred. Master's degree preferred. Bilingual candidate preferred.Â
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Specific knowledge and experience related to college advisement to include but not limited to college applications, admissions, and enrollment. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.
Work Context
Requires some sitting and standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and teams. Requires work with students, internal and external contacts, and with the public.
Physical Environment
Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions community and district events . Requires sitting for the majority of position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds.
