Family Partnership Coordinator - ESE
Custom Job Purpose
The Family Partnership Coordinator, Exceptional Student Education (ESE), works to empower parents by facilitating communication between schools and home, which promotes parent engagement and partnership. The Family Partnership Coordinator, ESE, increases parent knowledge and understanding of their rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), as outlined in the Procedural Safeguards, by providing information in individual and group settings, links to resources, and assistance in navigating the system to improve student academic and social success in school and in the community.
Essential Functions of this Job
The Family Partnership Coordinator serves as a liaison between parents and schools and collaborates with PCPS personnel, including ESE, Student Services, Behavior/Mental Health, and school-based staff, to address questions about ESE services and related activities and events. In this role, the coordinator builds rapport with families, administrators, and school staff to support student progress; provides and interprets information regarding federal and state timelines, school procedures, instructional
programs, and staff roles; and helps parents and students access educational and community resources. The coordinator also facilitates parent activities districtwide and in the community to promote a continuum of student success, including recruiting parents to serve on committees and attend school, district, and community events, and encourages engagement, advocacy, and participation in school-connected organizations. To ensure required documentation and continuous improvement, the coordinator maintains communication logs; records communication and activities in the database used to report parent assistance to the Florida Department of Education, Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (BEESS); participates in district and community committees that strengthen family–school partnerships; supports ESE parent trainings in collaboration with the PCPS ESE department and the Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS); and works with ESE leadership to promote, review, and analyze Indicator 8 data to improve parent relationships with the district and schools.

Qualifications
Experience: Must have knowledge about federal and state guidelines, including timelines, regarding supporting students with disabilities.
Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in related field or prior experience in education preferred.

Work Context
Employees in this position work in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and the ability to respond to changing goals, priorities, and needs. This position requires traveling to various school sites and work locations throughout the district.
Physical Environment
Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions and outdoors at times. Requires sitting, standing, moving about, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects frequently weighing up to 20 pounds and infrequently weighing more than 20 pounds. Requires travel to schools and worksites within the district.
