Senior Coor - Teacher Training
Custom Job Purpose
This position exists to manage and coordinate the processes for orienting, training, and retaining new teachers in the school district based on best practices and state law. Coordinates various other teacher development and training as needed.
Essential Functions of this Job
Designs, plans, and facilitates ongoing sessions of new teacher orientation throughout the year. Designs and implements all facets of a school-based orientation program for new teachers. Coordinates with Human Resource Services personnel and others regarding employment requirements. Delineates types of new teacher training and coordinates with other departments. Designs, plans, and facilitates training opportunities for teachers linked directly to identified teacher competencies, essential performance criteria, and accomplished practices based in state laws. Maintains a trainer pool. Ensures all items required for certification are completed and appropriately documented. Communicates all related training opportunities and schedules to stakeholders. Maintains budget-related program. Designs, plans, and facilitates all facets of intern placement program. Coordinates National Board Certification activities. Remains current in legislation and best practices and modifies programs accordingly. Collects feedback from new teachers relative to their training and success level. Gathers data and creates reports related to: New Teacher Orientation, School-Based Orientation, and Intern Placement. Adjusts program continually as data suggests changes are needed. Assists with Professional Development in-service record keeping management. Provides assistance to schools to improve student achievement by facilitating development activities pertaining to professional development, addressing the needs of diverse learners, inclusionary practices, and high-yield strategies consistent with the latest research. Works closely with district senior staff, school-based administrators, and teachers to enhance practices for the purpose of increased student achievement. Facilitates evaluation certification training.

Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree is preferred. Exemplary teaching experience and documentation of successful adult training experience are required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of existing requirements and programs for new teachers. Thorough knowledge of effective teaching practices and related assessment procedures. Ability to communicate in a professional manner with various groups of employees and the public. Ability to supervise adults. Highly organized, including the ability to handle many projects simultaneously. Ability to interpret and apply research for the purpose of program improvement. Highly intrinsically motivated. High level of initiative. Technology proficient.Thorough knowledge of the most promising high-yield strategies to enhance student learning. Thorough knowledge of adult learning theory and competency acquisition processes. Thorough knowledge of the latest research relative to universal design in educational practices. Demonstrated abilities in enhancing the professional development of others as well as in coaching and mentoring to improve practice and learning outcomes. Bilingual/biliterate preferred.
Work Context
Requires some sitting and standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires work with both internal and external contacts, and with the public.
Physical Environment
Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Requires sitting, standing, moving about, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects frequently weighing up to 20 pounds and infrequently weighing more than 20 pounds.
