Custom Job Purpose

The Senior Analyst of Business Opportunities will work in a key role to provide ongoing support for our vendor initiatives by providing analytical and administrative activities focusing on tracking and reporting on business opportunities. Implementing programs for both Federal, State-funded, and county opportunities. This position will report directly to the Senior Director of Compliance and ADA and the Office of Business Opportunities. This individual will work closely with the team and various stakeholders to identify, engage, and develop relationships with suppliers, track and report on business metrics, and contribute to the overall success of the business opportunities program.

 

This role develops, implements, and monitors policies and initiatives that promote economic practices in alignment with Florida statutes, district policies, and federal guidelines. The position works collaboratively with internal departments, small businesses, veteran-owned businesses, business development centers, community partners, and vendors to expand the district’s supplier base and strengthen economic participation across the region.

Essential Functions of this Job

The Senior Analyst of Business Opportunities will develop, implement, and oversee the district’s supplier development Program in accordance with Florida law, federal regulations, and district procurement policies.

 

Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, including veteran-owned and small businesses.  Work closely with key stakeholders and sourcing teams to integrate business opportunity goals into sourcing and efficient processes.  Develop and maintain relationships with multiple suppliers, providing guidance and support to help them navigate the supplier qualification process.  Track, analyze, and report on business opportunities metrics, including spend data, supplier demographics, and program impact. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of business opportunities, goals, and initiatives.  Participate in business opportunities, events, conferences, and outreach activities to promote the organization’s commitment to business and education.  Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulations related to business opportunities and recommend adjustments to the program, as necessary.  Contribute to the development of business opportunities report submissions, business opportunities training materials and resources for internal teams.  Performs other duties as assigned by an administrator or their representative. Ability to have a proficient level of project management experience to handle multiple projects with competing priorities.

Qualifications

Graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, Business Law, Finance, Purchasing, or Human Resources is required. Related entrepreneurial experiences and business development are recommended. Experience in business opportunities, construction, procurement, supply chain management, educational organizations, or a related field is preferred. Experience in a K-12 education or governmental construction and/or procurement departments preferred. Familiarity with vendor certifications and the process of obtaining and maintaining these certifications is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong understanding of vendor best practices, regulations, and reporting requirements.  Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret and present complex data in a clear and actionable manner.  Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with varied suppliers and internal stakeholders.  Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.  Ability to work independently and produce results with minimal direction.  Ability to work in ambiguous environments.  Ability to make sound business decisions using good business judgment and innovative and creative problem-solving.  Strong people skills, high degree of presentation skills.  Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently. Proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, Prezi, Canva, and experience with business opportunities tracking and reporting tools.

Work Context

It requires some sitting and standing, walking, and moving to coordinate work.  Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones, and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals, and meet deadlines. Working in multiple locations and varied work schedule days and times due to event schedules.

Requires travel for face-to-face discussions, conferences, expos, etc. with individuals and/or teams. Requires a significant amount of creating, developing, organizing, and implementing professional developments and trainings with internal and external stakeholders, and developing marketing brand materials for the public. Involves regular face-to-face and virtual communication with individuals and teams.

Physical Environment

Requires working indoors and outdoors. Requires travel at times to schools, worksites within the district, and community functions. It requires sitting and walking during the day and sometimes at night. Also, it requires the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds.
